  The appetizers are very good, especially the crispy squid. The salty beef not so much. Had the pork chop for main course, quite decent.
  
  The ambiance is nice. We were seated near the kitchen, seeing cooks preparing our food right next to us, not bad.

  Village East is one of the fab gems of Bermondsey St. If you're in the area visiting one of the many bars, art galleries, or the new Vinegar Yard, this is the place you need to dine. It's a great venue overall (where you can rent out various spaces within the restaurant) and the food is delish.
  
  I came here with a group of friends for a boozy dinner and we had such a good time! The service was so delightful and the wait staff made the meal more special and fun. They were friendly and seemed to love their jobs.
  
  We started at the bar with mezcal margs and merlot, then migrated to our reserved table. Definitely make reservations in advance if you can! We ordered the seaweed butter & sourdough, crab, and korokke to start. The korokke was my personal fave, but every starter had great flavour.
  
  For mains, we selected the wellington, pork chop, and short rib. The short rib was absolutely divine and I wasn't even able to finish it!
  
  100% recommend Village East for dinners or outings with friends, coworkers, and family. Also go for a boozy brunch for a little something extra!

  Loved this place (July, 2019). Food is exceptional - I think the menu is original and innovative without pretentiousness from cocktail to dessert.  Ingredients are fresh and high quality.  Miso-grazed pork chop was best in the city I had so far.  What was exceptional was mac n cheese - I think I'd go back just to have it with a glass of wine.  All the wait staff was attentive - especially Marco whom we have noted as the best personable and knowledgeable waiter we have met in London. Good, reasonable priced wine list. For two people with cocktail to wine with full meal (appetizers to dessert) ended up 175 pounds for two.  I spent double at a Michelin star restaurant for more than the double the price -- & I  prefered Village East.  I will be back here many more times whenever I visit London in the future.  A gem.

  I ate here in late February and had a nice evening meal.
  
  The atmosphere of the venue was really nice and I felt this was one of the best service spots (at least our server was great) I've eaten at in London.
  
  The food is decent I had the Lamb Shoulder and I split a couple smalls with my dinner colleague.
  
  While there was nothing wrong with the meal or service I still left feeling underwhelmed given the price and hype I'd heard about the place.
  
  Maybe a 3.5 not 3 I still think Yelp needs half stars.

  Went here with some friends on a Saturday night and the place was absolutely packed.
  
  Most of the food that we had was really great, but my main course was really not even edible. I was hoping for the confit turkey leg, but they had run out, so the waiter recommended one of the specials of the night--it has been a little while so I can't remember what it was exactly, but I can remember that I did not enjoy it one bit.
  
  Overall, though this part of my meal was lackluster, we actually enjoyed as great rest of the meal and were treated with a lot of care. Definitely a hot spot in the neighborhood.
